The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of frozen Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been drawn from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to drive progress toward employing the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state assets to conclude the conflict.

He stated that further restrictions soon would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This declaration is subsequent to European Union leaders gathered in Copenhagen previously to debate using immobilized Russia's funds for a 140-billion-euro loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to confiscate or employ frozen Russian assets, as reported by reports.

The value of seized Russia's funds in the EU is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL initiative

Russia launched extensive missile and drone strikes all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing blackouts in many areas of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a message on social media subsequent to the attack, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not mere statements but decisive action - from the United States, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions weakens Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed media outlets he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl program, under which alliance members acquire military equipment from the US to give to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's strong support for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce more sanctions on Russia.
