The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The track blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a specific target,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
