Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences â some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 â between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, âOur prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.â
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a âdetailed inquiryâ into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
