Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a announcement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
