Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
