A Pair of Individuals Arrested Over Mobile Device Concealed in Commons to Reportedly Broadcast Sex Noises At PMQs

Police have arrested two men related to a cellular device found hidden within the House of Commons, which was allegedly intended to play inappropriate audio during the weekly parliamentary session.

Discovery and Investigation

The device was uncovered close to the government benches during a standard security check of the hall. Authorities suspect it was planned to interrupt the regular debate between political leaders in September.

An official spokesperson stated, “At 10.25 on that specific date, a device was discovered while conducting a standard inspection of the parliamentary hall.”

Detentions and Allegations

Investigations led officers to believe that the phone was deliberately placed in a spot with the aim of causing disruption to proceedings in the house.

  • An individual in his 30s was arrested on that Friday on suspected grounds of attempting to intentionally cause a public nuisance.
  • A second person in his 60s was arrested on Tuesday 30 September on suspicion of the identical charge.
  • Both have been bailed to return at a future time.

Precautions and Consequences

Heightened security measures were introduced in the House of Commons after the phone was found. Sound-guided visits and escorted visits were called off, and there was limited entry to the main hall.

The upper house followed suit to limit entry to the Lords Chamber “as a precautionary measure.”

Officials noted, “Investigations continue, and we are updating the parliamentary officials informed with our probe.”

Seriousness of the Event

This incident is being regarded as grave as it constitutes a significant violation of parliamentary security. The phone was located while numerous security staff based in Westminster were on industrial action over pay and conditions.

As a result, the public were prohibited from the parliamentary estate. The union explained that the work stoppage proceeded due to reduction of annual leave entitlements, unchanged salaries, and an wage disparity based on race.
